I am having problems trying to decide what cover to get for our pontoon. I have had cloth covers for my bass boat and they don't last long at all. I want a cover that will last for a while and not break the bank. I really don't care for the cloth covers, so I checked out the water proof tarps semi trailers use to cover steel. They run about the same price as the cloth ones but are repairable and will hold up much better. Has any of you had any experience with them, any pros or cons?

If you have a custom cover made out of Sunbrella, it will last over 10 years. Yes it's pricey but you won't be buying one every few years.

Thanks Bruce, I will check them out.
Talk to canvas makers in your area.

I make my own and this is one I made for mine.

Wow, that is very impressive to say the least. I did check the prices on the Sunbrella, that is a little beyond my budget. I appreciate your help Bruce.

I finally decided on one of the tarps the semi trailers use to cover steel with. I figured if it will hold up on a tractor trailer going down the expressway it will hold up on our pontoon sitting out in the yard. Took off to Atlanta today and got one, it is heavy for sure.

Now to figure out how to make a structure to hold the tarp up.

We just used a cheap blue plastic tarp this fall until we can get something else. I built two crosstubes of 1 1/2" PVC, raised 10" to clear the console. I slotted the back side of Tee fittings to set on the top fence rail.
