He can get the nut off. He needs to slide the prop off.I made a homemade nut tool by using a piece of pipe. Think it was 1.5" (just large enough to get around round part of prop nut). Cut slots into end to align with the 3 notches so it slips through around depth of nut. Then get a pipe wrench and twist it off.
Has always worked and never failed me....good luck!
Agreed. My props come off every year when I change my gear oil.Shaper, how do you service the drive on the Chappie in your signature?
It is kind of a behavior engineering incentive from Volvo, so the prop gets removed (and shaft regreased, hint hint) regularly.
. Lol. He said in post# 20 all he wanted was to change the gear oil. So it had me thinking the drain bolt was behind the prop. On his model. But yea I understand now. Just trying to get it off to grease the splines. To prevent prop sezing on the drive shaft.Shaper, how do you service the drive on the Chappie in your signature?

You are learning!Yea that just says that it's been prolly years since it's even had the gear oil changed.wow!! Now I understand what's going on.
I actually don't think that was why they did it. I think it is was a design issue to get all the gear oil out.i guess in one way that's a brilliant design by Volvo. To some what help keep prop sezing. Got it now.
