Hey there,

We have a 21' Chris Craft Scorpion 210 bowrider boat and the original steering wheel is in pretty ugly shape. I'm looking to rpelace it, but don't know what size the steering shaft is and what all i'll need.

Am looking to install this one: http://www.ultraflexgroup.com/easystore/schedevedi.asp?schedaid=848

1) Is this the right size and setback to work?

2) Do you need a puller tool to get the old one off?

3) Any tips and tricks?

Thanks!

Yes the 3/4" standard shaft will fit. That's what "standard" means. The wheel is flat, is yours?

No puller needed.

Take of the hub cover, undo the nut and pull. If it sticks, put the nut back on so it's flush with the shaft, wedge your knees under it, pull with hand and with a hammer in the other, whack it. It will come off.

Thanks GA. I assumed I would be good with that, but I've learned over the years not to make too many assumptions...

So just hammering on the old one should dislodge it eh? This things been on there nearly 30 years so I'm kind of assuming the worst!

Squirt some PBlaster or your favorite penetrating juice on it and let it sit a while. When do the knee wedge, hand pull and hammer whack. It will come off.

Ya use your knees under the bottom - No cup needed. LOL

No Title

Thanks for the help guys! With the penetrating lube and a jerk or two with knee pressure it popped right off. The new one looks great on there and makes everything look so much better.
