What year is my blue ribbon 50HP Mer?

Hello,

When i purchased a 1985 Sylvan 16FT super sport it came with a 50HP Mercury 2 Stroke motor ( has hydraulic trim add on), it has the blue ribbon and says thrunderbolt on the casing if i remember correctly. What year is this motor? I have searched online and haven't had any success.

Motor runs fine which is surprising for how old it is.

Year looks like it's right there on the starter motor. Appears to be 1982 - at least that's when the starter motor was made. Stripes point toward that, too.
