I bought a project boat and I need a head gasket

Boat:
1994 Bayliner Capri 1950
Engine:
3 liter Ford
Outdrive S/N:
0F176013
Gimbal housing S/N
0F192079
Spark Plugs:
AC Delco
R42LTS
Oil Filter:
35-802885Q

The guy that bought the boat claims he replaced this engine.
Look at the flame suppressor image I included there are 3 serial numbers on there.
One of them is the outdrive, one is the gimbal housing, not sure if the last one is for the engine, or if it matches the engine that is in there.
I know the engine Serial is usually on a tag that is riveted to the block near the starter. It is not there.
Block casting number is: 14097080 147 99
Head casting number is: 14096620

Unknown serial on the flame suppressor is: 0F176013 NOT SURE IF ENGINE IS ORIGINAL

Original engine model is/was MCM3.0 Liter
I can't make out the spark plug number on the flame suppressor but it looks very different than what is in it. Looks like AG-MR4xx (xx being really unlegible)

I need confirmation on the serial number, and would like confirmation on the proper head gasket, and proper service manual

Bondo thanks in advance

By 1994 Ford had been out of the Mercruiser business many, many years. That is a GM (what MCM used). Do you know if it was just the long block replaced or the whole engine setup? The engine serial comes back at a 1991-1995 engine. Since that is there it could be likely it was just a long block and the original externals were swapped over. If that is the case go by your serial number listed.

My bad, yes it is GM / MCM

I do not know, and honestly, I'm not even sure if the engine was swapped. He said it only had 40 hours on aa new engine. Then again.... he also said he replaced the floor....

So the 'unknown serial' I listed is for the engine?

Also, what service manual would I need?

Thanks much!

OEM Service Manual number 13. Merc Part number 90‑816462 R2 covers GM 4‑Cylinder All Serial numbers for 1990?1997 engine models. http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_odkw...62+R2&_sacat=0

Since that gasket set from EBay says Fits: 3.0L 181ci GM Marine engines 1968 thru 1982 and Brand says Private Label... I personally would not trust it. Also see post number 4 above for your parts guide to this engine.

Yes service manual # 14 is the one you need for the stern drive.

Ayuh,.... Welcome Aboard,..... It appears all of that is for an older year range than yer '94,......

Seein's that manual 13 covers the '90 to '97 year range, that's what you can use to search out parts,....
