I damaged the anti-vent plate on my Gen 2 drive... Am I correct in assuming I can wait until the off-season to have this repaired?

Thanks!

My old boat looked like that for 15 years.

Maybe if you had an aluminum prop that would not have happened during the prop strike

It shouldn't be a problem until you get it fixed whenever. But it could also allow air into the prop and cavitate easier. JMHO

Guys. The damage is on the down stroke side of the drive, no air will be drawn in. And being on the down side also means it wasn't a prop strike that did it. I'd guess that someone stepped on it.

To be completely honest, I'm not sure when or how it happened. We were at a small lake in Canada for couple of weeks and I didn't notice the damage until we pulled the boat out of the water to go home. It could have happened when someone was climbing in or out of the boat (even though I discourage people from stepping on the outdrive) or it could have been when I was teaching one of the young ones to dock the boat (we had a few bumps from itchy/inexperienced/spastic throttle hands), or maybe we hit something floating in the water. I really don't know.

From what I've read here, it looks like something a prop shop should be able to fix without too much trouble.

Almost looks like the kind of break I have seen from a fin!
