2001 SeaRay 210 Bowrider, 2008 5.0 liter Mercruiser TKS 2 bbl. carbed motor, Alpa 1 Gen 2 drive. Current prop is Power Tech SS 14 1/2x21 3 blade.

At WOT Tach reads 4400 rpm. Speed 42 MPH.

Bottom is fairly clean 2 people 1/2 tank of gas and minimal gear.

Does it sound like I'm over propped?

Suggestions?

Assuming this is a carb motor

Maybe just a tad, 4400 isn't that bad, recommended is 4400-4800. Serial number 0L012052 - 0M599999

Or if your motor serial number is above 0M600000 then your WOT would be 4400-5000

So going to a 19 pitch should be fine, and more so if you run the boat a bit heavier at times and IF (the big if) your Tachometer is accurate

I believe serial # is 1A329525. Don't know if tach is accurate.

Remember that when changing props, two supposedly identical props from two different manufacturers may and likely will perform differently. Do your research carefully and look for test results.

My brother has that exact boat with an EFI 5.0 and it does almost 60. Have your raised the trim to get max speed?

Raised trim till it cavitates. Not sure what's going on with the serial #, but my motor is carbed. Speed at WOT is 42 by GPS and the tach reads 4400. Might be time for some new plugs and wires too.
