RedRanger, before you send your drive off to Canada, you should know that there is a top notch expert right here in Portland Or. He gets units in from dealers and individuals from all over the country including alaska. If you are interested, I give you his # and you can call and talk to him.Originally posted by RedRangerVIP:
Getting ready to send off mine to Canada.(yep , no one in my area period). For us neophytes, can you add some detail as to what a magnetic clamp on dial indicator is, where you needed it & how you used it?

Also, what is plastigauge that you used on the shims and bearings?

Thanks for the additional details! Might help some beginers with a good manual and parts catalogue (and more time than money) guage whether or not to tackle something like this.Originally posted by lilmandavis:
i didnt use any of the special tools everything i used was right in my tool box, how ever- i did use a magnetic clamp on dial indicator and plastigauge on the shims and bearings. the only real tool is the prop shaft bearing housing puller. an adjustable long arm bearing puller with the long skinny arms works good! but im a pretty good intuitive guy thats resourceful!
