the kits come with instructions. make sure to chase each passage with a fine wire to get the sediment out. the sediment will have hardened to the consistancy of concrete.

Carb rebuilds are really no where near as complex as they sound before you do one. Afterwards you will sit back and think to yourself,
man that wasn't that bad.

Joe, it's easier than changing plugs on your mercruiser or setting up a new satellite fish. Just be a bit anal retentive about cleaning each passage with a fine wire

I've never set a Satellite fish but i'd be willing :D I've changed plenty of plugs in my 50 years. But - have you looked at all the crap that attaches to a carb???????

ok, Posted on my thread for help ordering the kit.

Thanks OP for letting me talk myself thru this on your thread - hope it helps others. I've subscribed to this thread so please post results and tips for (mostly) myself and (marginally) others...

My advice:

Determine what carb you have and order the appropriate kit
Watch a youtube video or two on dis-assembly of your carb...there are TONS out there
Use the proper screwdriver that fits the head of your screws the best (I have a screw driver that has many replaceable heads that I use for carb work)
If a screw is stubborn, use a good bit of downward force and slightly put rotational pressure on the screwdriver as you lightly tap the end of the screwdriver with a hammer
Work methodically on dis-assembly, lay out all parts in order on your workspace (this helps with reassembly and allows you to match up the right parts out of your kit)
Take pictures along the way so you know how things were on the carb, and for reference on how to replace things
As you are going, take your time and understand how the mechanics of your carb work
Be sure to take all the rubber out of each piece before you begin to clean, carb cleaner and rubber don't play nice in the sandbox together (rubber gloves won't do you much good either)
Clean everything really well, use a wire to go through passageways, use canned air to blow out passageways
Reassemble in the reverse of how you took it apart
Plan to spend a couple hours on this project and really take your time

It really isn't that bad! You can do it!
