1989 MCM 7.4L Bravo Sea Water Pump Impeller Change.. NEED HELP.

Ok, I have a 1989 Carver which has a 7.4L Bravo 1 serial is OC663010

I can not for the life of me figure out how the Belt comes off the sea water pump i purchased a new impeller and would like to install it.... Everything on the engine has a belt tensioner besides the water pump, the newer style 7.4L have a Idler pulley that you can use to take the belt off.

this 7.4 is a belt going from the sea water pump to the crank and it has tension on it but i cant loosen it up to get the belt off there is 2 bolts above the pump holding it to the engine block and another long arm holding it to the other side of the engine thats it no slide no tensioner im lost lol... do i just pry the belt off? I found a image of a engine I posted below you will see its the same engine sea water pump has belt going straight to crank.

it seems that there is some adjustment (maybe) with the angled bracket... I have attached a pic where it might be... I hope this helps you.

Yes I seen that yesterday so I loosen that bolt but bolt # 28 & 29 in that diagram hold the pump stationary so that guide your talking about nothing moves I think it's just a support arm so the pump don't twist left or right but I don't know lol i tried using that though no luck

I just remove the pulley from the pump and then remove the pump. It is a lot easier to work on outside the boat. To get it back in loosely mount the pump in the bracket then put the pulley on with the belt. After that you tighten up the bolts to the bracket.

I had the same setup in my 1991 Merc 7.4 bravo. I would just take the pump off via the 2 bolts that the pump and bracket hang from. The top bolt has a slotted hole in the bracket and the bottom bolt is more for holding the belt tension.

When re-installing I think I needed a lever bar to tension the belt enough to get the lower bolt fastened.

Here is the pump & bracket that I used to take off in one piece. You can see the slotted hole for the top bolt.

If you have the pimp shown by tpen the upper bolt remains captive.and you remove the adjusting bracket completely first then the lower bolt
The other type is 2 regular bolts , remove the adj strap completely , then remove the 2 bolts

I will go back and look I know I have 2 bolts above the sea pump which are mounted to the engine block then under the sea pump there is a long arm that runs over to the other side of the engine and I think either the power steering pump or alternator is mounted with it by one bolt.... I'll take some pictures so it helps
