If your battery is only showing 6v and then goes to 12 while running then your charging system is OK but your battery is no good, it should hold a charge of 12-13v for days.

Where are you attaching your test leads too and what scale are you using to get the readings?

Stator testing.----Post these 2 readings in OHMS-----Yellow wire to gray wire.------And one of those wires to ground.

Was the battery charged before you hooked it up? The alternator just keeps it charged up it's not meant to charge a flat battery.

Yellow to gray wire = continuity
Yellow to ground. = open
Gray to ground. = open

If you don't have a good battery in the system the voltage levels can be quite erratic. A battery should have at least 11.5 volts. Normal is 12.75 volts. If yours is dropping to 6 volts it's either no good or very, very, very flat.

Yellow to gray = 3 ohms

Sounds too high, should be 0.2, 0.3, 0.4'ish ohms............When you touch JUST the two meter leads together, what is that resistance reading? If it is 3'ish ohms again, then the stator is probably okay, the meter just can't read that low.

Does your meter have "rel" feature?
