so the carb that came on my boat was junk, i bought another one but the linkage is slightly different, there is no little tab that hits the cam arm on the choke linkage at WOT to open it slightly, it appears to be designed that way, there is no obvious signs of it breaking off anywhere. is this supposed to be like this??

Need a bit more info, what motor and is this a 2 bbl Merc carb?
If your talking about this cam, then it is used to open the choke. With it being gone, is there a place for it, maybe it was removed, or are you sure its a marine carb?

I don't see anything wrong or missing from the linkage. Here's few pics of mine:

im referring to the piece on the throttle linkage that at WOT is supposed to hit that cam to slightly open the choke (when the choke is closed). il take a better pic in a few minutes.

you have a little 90 degree bend on the bottom that hits the choke cam, mine doesnt have that

it is a marine carb, just no idea what year it is from, its a mercarb 2bbl on a mercury 4.3 vortec. i paid $25 for it on ebay, it needed a rebuild and i already had the rebuild kit as i didnt realize the old one was so bad

i circled where the little arm should be, it looks like it was made this way, just doesnt make sense to me.... i can use it, i will just have to wait till its fully warmed up to give it throttle

here it is with the throttle wide open, nothing to bump the choke cam

Don't see that as being an issue, the movement will be about the same. The sight variation may be a slight issue but don't see that making that much of an issue

ok thanks, i was unsure as the old one and all the ones ive found in image search have that extra tab. il bolt the carb on and see what happens.

next to figure out how to make the exhaust work. this simple motor swap is not as easy as i had hoped
