Canadian source for Evinrude parts

I was checking out the availability and price of some service parts for my 1979, 4 HP Evinrude. I thought to check on the iBoats store, since I'm on the forum. The shipping charges to Canada are quite high! I understand they ship from the US, hence the extra cost, which brings my question to Canadian members: Where do you get your parts in Canada? Any specific vendors who offer *reasonable* prices and shipping charges to Canada?

P.S. If you don't feel like publishing names of vendors in public, you're welcome to PM me.
Thanks..

depends..what you need where you live

. why not try your friendly OMC BRP dealer

I buy my stuff at a local marine shop and they just order the parts I need but generally common stuff is on the shelf... like coils condensers impellers some gaskets

some parts are on amazon ... not overly expensive sometimes free shipping based on item price or membership to PRIME

Thanks..
I am just considering the usual stuff, points, condenser, carb kit, water impeller, etc.

Didn't think of local dealers. Good idea. But, I am wondering of they carry parts for a 40 year old motor? I will check anyway.
I like shopping on Amazon. Didn't realize they carry parts too. How can I search there? By Evinrude part number or Sierra, etc?

Thanks again..

The parts for your " old " motor may be easier to get than much newer motors.

Exchange rate is high, then add shipping, duty, and to top it off, brokerage. Importing to Canada is complicated enough, sending something back for refund, or worse warrantee, then you will see complicated

If you find parts from a dealer or individual in the US, make sure that they will ship through the US Postal System. That way, Canada Post brokers the shipment for Customs, charging a Flat Fee of $5, ( I believe). If you get a cross border shipment from a Courier like USP, they will hit you with a much higher Customs Brokerage Fee.

If the parts are made in the US, there will be no Duty Fees, they are exempt under NAFTA and as well under Auto-pact (I think) which is the old agreement to cover Auto, Aircraft and Marine Parts between Canada and the US. You will be charged for GST.

It has been a few years since I did a cross border purchase, so my information may be off or no longer current. I am posting this to get people to check things out before you do an order.

NAPA also stocks or can order some SIERRA parts. Does your 1979 model use points and condensers? If so then it probably is 1976 or older.

Your location is ??-----------There are many good dealers that will co-operate with someone looking for parts.--------One I know has set up on line shopping with a $15 shipping fee.

Thanks guys, I appreciate the info.
I found most of the stuff I was looking for in Amazon, and shipping charges are *somewhat* reasonable.
I am quite familiar with cross-border shipping rip-offs (read: brokerage, duties..etc) from buying parts for my classic cars. I usually avoid it at any cost, hence my question in this thread.

P.S. I updated my location (Calgary, AB), but still doesn't show on my signature! Hmmm..
Another P.S., Yes, it has a power pack. 1979. Thanks for pointing this out HW Fisherman :thumb:

I'm in Chestermere. You can buy local from Bob at B&L. I won't. Long story...

Look up Klaus Marine in Ontario - talk to Paul Milando.
