Did little more work today finished installing the replacement trim lines on the pre-alpha outdrive got everything all wired up build the system and now I'm having issues that maybe you guys can help with. Trim up is working great trim down sounds like it's struggling and when it reaches halfway it no longer trim down but once I turn it off it falls all the way down. I've tried switching trim lines around thinking maybe I have one backwards all kinds of fun stuff bleeding the system as much as I can I'm at a loss

Have you posted your info and video in the mercruiser forum? Some of those guys have seen this before I'm sure. That is really odd how it falls when the pump is off.

Yeah but if I don't turn the down switch on it all it doesn't fall and it holds pressure I can't push it down

Well I wasn't able to get the trim situation completely sorted out but it will work for this trip. About to head out on a 5-day 4-night trip which involves three days in the largest catfish tournament in Arizona. Wish me luck

No Title

Well just got back from the long catfish tournament unfortunately no fish were caught on my boat to be weighed in but it was still an amazing trip. For having one of the oldest boats out there I probably had the best reliability and best fuel economy out of anybody I meant to do the entire trip on 17 gallons of gas maybe even less and that was multiple trips upriver. Had a couple electrical problems but got those sorted out early on and manage to catch a new personal best channel catfish weighing 15 and a half pounds. My buddy Jake caught at 56 pound Flathead unfortunately two days before the tournament started and it would have been the winning fish.

Nice shovel-head right there!

River fishing for big cats was my primary motivation for acquiring a Starcraft tinnie as well! :thumb:

That must have been quite the fight! I'm betting it was as much fun to see someone bring a monster like that aboard your boat as it would have been to catch it yourself :)

Yeah that was my buddy Jake and Trevor on their pontoon. They fished across the river from me and he caught that fish the exact same time I caught my big Channel cat period 4 a.m. Thursday morning. I fished off the chieftain

Looking to install a thru hull fitting not thru my transom but off to the side somewhere for my livewell. Plan and a plastic 1/2 thru hull fitting and sealing with 5200 to be safe. Any concerns?

I asked when putting on on my bilge pump fitting and the general consensus was just put it above the water line and not fighting gravity toooooo much.

Everyone that helped me out said location didn't matter much. I went with the thru-hull fitting that went on at a 90? which was a little difficult to use. I bought hardware store rubber and heated it in boiling water but found it was difficult to get much pressure when pushing upward onto the 90? fitting that was pointing down....if that makes sense.

I'd see where you can get at it best from a leverage standpoint and that won't interfere with the electrical wires. I almost put it on the port side to avoid wiring altogether but decided I wanted it on the starboard side so I could see it running from the captain chair.

Your livewell might have different needs, but hopefully that helps.

Unfortunately mine has to go below the waterline because this will be my Inlet for my live well. The boat used to have dual fuel tanks so I will be using the Breather Outlet from the second tank which no longer exists as my outflow for my live well. My only concern with going to the transom is that it seems like most thru hull fittings are 1 and 9/16 and the transom I believe is one and a half inches thick plus the aluminum on the outside wouldn't make this a viable option unless I ordered it a longer fitting
