I have a 83 bomber bass boat that has a plastic tank inside the back storage area. the tank itself is to long to just come straight out and too deep to come out at an angle. I hope someone here has a few tips or experience getting it out?

The reason I am trying to remove the tank is I believe the bilge pump is located under. I am trying to figure out why it doesnt work

I have attached a pic of the tank, tank1.jpg

what if I installed a 2nd bilge pump? you think it would set down there under the tank area? right by the aerator pump? also if I remove the hose from the old bilge would it cause any problems?

Ayuh,..... Keep lookin' for yer bilge pump,....

I'm bettin' that tank sits pretty much on the hull, with just enough space under it so water can flow back to the transom, which is where the bilge pump oughta be,....

I agree with Bondo. The bilge pump is probably pretty close to the transom.

This might work.
Find the bilge pump water outlet.
Get an electrical fish tape or maybe a piece of electrical wire and carefully push it down the tube until it stops.
That might give you an idea of how far the pump is from the outlet.
Careful not to damage the hose.

okay I found the bilge I'll post a pic. it was under the area the tank sits down in the hull or bilge area, not sure what you call it. It only has 2 wires coming off, a black and brown. The black one is ground and the brown one runs up to the switch I guess. I have a switch labeled "pump". I applied the brown one directly to the battery and nothing, I guess it is shot, I already ordered a new one, It will have 3 wires, I know one is the auto, 1 ground, and 1 to switch I guess. Can you please explain the proper way to wire the new one in, The old one was laying on its side, How should I mount the new one? the boat is fiberglass, bilge1.jpg

Before you get to far into things. Brown is more often the ground side than any other color. Black could very well be power. And looking at the rust I see id want to know which ever one is the ground is actually grounded. Best bet is to actually check the ground and the power. Most use a remote float thats possibly located in another area at its lowest point. If you can get to the wires at the pump id try checking for power via your switch and then the ground with an ohm meter if its less than 1 ohm id then want to put a load on the ground me id use a high beam headlight bulbs and see it its making enough of a ground to light the light brightly. Its common for the wires on the float to break as the float moves up and down. Thats if its got a remote float.

Are those rusted screws or nails in the pic above the pump? Also, is that some rotted wood at the bottom of the pic? If so, you may have a lot more problems other than a bilge pump that doesn't work.

the wood was just loose in the boat. its not part of the boat.
