The title tells it all! I need a new prop. So I would like to know what prop I need for this boat/motor combination. Or teach me how I can figure out which prop I need.

My boat is a fishing rig and fairly heavy. Usually two adults on board(300lbs total) and some gear.

Thanks for any and all help

My current prop is a 9-1/4x9J. Its beat up from being used in a river so I need to replace it. I would like to know if I need another prop of the same size or something different before I order a new one.

Thanks

Get a tach, find out how many RPMS it is turning @ WOT. Then post those results, you want the boat to run at the recommended Manufacturers RPM range at WOT. Without a tach, and the RPM reading there is no real way of telling.

a beat up old prop on a 9.9 hp motor on a heavy loaded 14' boat is not a good thing.

what is the HP rating of the boat?

Max HP is 25, the boat is a G3 1442. This was a "boat/motor/trailer" package from a local dealer. Front a rear decks made of aluminum have been added, it also has a front trolling motor, battery(in the front) and navigation lights. Its a nice little "small lake" fishing rig that I bought to use on the local HP restricted reservoirs. The previous owner installed a rock guard on the scag so that needs to come off as I'm sure its causing some drag. The motor is now running at its best since I overhauled the carb, new fuel pump and lines. The choke does not work for some reason but she always starts just very cold natured.

if you do not know if the prop worked well before it was beat up and if your not sure the motor was running properly, or what RPM it could reach at WOT,
the right prop is going to be hard to figure out from your info.

I am not sure Yamaha even lists a small boat and motor in there performance bulletins.

may need to talk to some of the locals at these hp restricted lakes you speak of to see what they are turning
