New to me 95 35hp

Just picked this motor up for $325. Came with a box of parts and receipts for new parts bought. Seems her ex husband replaced all electrics under the flywheel like 3 yrs ago and she said he got it running but something about a key kept shearing.

I got it home pulled flywheel and sure enough it was sheared. But also when I loosened the nut it was nowhere near the the torque it should have been. I called my buddy to ride out to marina and get a key, but while waiting for him I started laying out the stuff in box, and could not believe the guy bought like 5 keys.

My buddy showed up and he helped me take 9.9 off and put it on boat. We hooked up my controls, crossed fingers and fired right up. We ran it up some, sounded good. Pulled down to idle and let it run, it was smooth as possible.

We decided let's head to river and try it. Put boat in we rode for 2 hrs and this thing didn't miss a beat. Throttle was smooth thru idle to wide open.

I kinda think this guy wasn't torquing flywheel to required torque. Now I'm kinda wondering if all these parts he replaced are really bad. He used all one parts to replace them. I'm headed now to buy some lottery tickets.

There is one new one in my parts. Gotta order one manual cause I'm think I hard about recounting the old parts one by one to see if they're good.

I think the guy was just throwing parts hoping to fix. We'll see how it goes!
