Can I retrofit newer style ignition coils to fit my 1978 70hp Johnson?

I have a couple newer style coils that are for 1979-84 2-6cyl models (CDI 183-2366 and a #582106 OS5P). Can I use them on my 1978 Johnson 70hp? My motor has the older screw type power pack.
Can I simply retrofit ring terminals on them and connect them to my power pack?

Yup....but I was hoping to be able to modify the coils I have since they are in like new condition. Aside from the different physical design...are the newer style coils compatible with my motor?

I don't know if you can because they are different ignitions. Give CDI a call they may know.
