Part identification for old Johnson/Evinrude linkage control

Hey guys, I'm sort of stuck here. I have found a wealth of information here on iBOATS and any time I need a Merc of Johnson/Evinrude part, I can just jump on the manufacturer's site, drill down the list, find my part and it's corresponding number. BUT... I have an old Sea Nymph with a 1981 Evinrude 35 and it took a LOT of pressure to put it in reverse. One of the cogs for the Neutral safety start shifter was worn and I pulled too hard and broke the piece INSIDE the front control mechanism.
Wow... I wrote a whole chapter just to ask: WHERE CAN I FIND PARTS LISTS TO OLD Evinrude Simplex Controls??? i THINK the piece I need is called a cable guide? If I could post pics or add links I would.
Any idea who has parts like that?
I'd say the background info for the control is mid 70's to 80's The boat itself is a 1994.
I added a link to show which controller I am talking about.

THANKS IN ADVANCE!

I still can't add pics, but I attached a link to a pic in my craigslist post. You can see the controller near the steering wheel.
My question? Where do I buy parts that are in my control box? While putting/forcing the lever into reverse I broke the end off my guide thingie.
Thanks guys!

Guys I didn't mean to post this. The page said it lost my changes so I posed a new shorter post. Can someone just delete this post? Thank you!

Pre-1979 cables and guides are different than 1979-up.

The link doesn't bring up a specific item.
But any Evinrude dealer or here at iboats should be able to help you with the part. However you need to know if it is a pre-1979 or 1979-up. The cables are different. The pre-1979 cable guides are removable. This assumes the control with squared corners. The real old ones had a rack-and-pinion cable.

Why not just replace the box with the 78 and newer single lever model. A lot of used ones for sale.

I think it MUST be post 1979 as it does NOT have rack n pinion but a rectangular 6" plastic slide that my cable runs through.
