I don't know the terms today. They used to be called ski boats and they invented wake board boats. Today the big new ones are called surf boats out here..

I guess they're called wake boats here--they're the ones that have ballast tanks to make them sit low in the water so that they create big wakes. They drive me crazy. We sit on our beach and if there's a wakeboat around it's like being at Waikiki. Have to keep a close eye on the grandkids. Oh, let's not forget they have to have the speakers pointing backwards at the wakeboarder so he--and everyone else--can enjoy the loud music. Guess I'm just getting crotchety.

No your not crotchety those boats are a menace. Out of all the things environmentalists go after you would think artificial waves that erode the shore would be one. One of the reasons they want to drain Lake Powell is because they say it will fill with sediment in XX years. I don't have a problem with sking but wake enhancing devices should be limited to non public waterways and out right banned in all envirmentally sensitive or erosion sensitive areas. Besides the selfish bass tards insist on chopping up every nook and cranny of every lake they get in. They at least need boundaries for them especially on smaller lakes. A slalom skier gets my respect by avoiding them. That takes a degree of coordination and physical agility that scrawny wake boarders only dream about.

Keep in mind - "Lake" Powell is not a lake, it is a reservoir made out of a river . It fills with sediment because the "shorelines" are the tops of a flooded valley and the water level fluctuates so much that it makes a tremendous amount of erosion possible. What an environmentalist would want to do is remove the dams and restore the little tiny river that used to be there.

I'm not saying that I don't dislike it when surf boats are running near shorelines, but the huge wake issues tend to occur on "lakes" where there is no real shoreline that is either protected naturally or by humans using rip rap. Most of the sediment issues are from the seasonal or cyclical draining of these "lakes" due to lack of water to keep them full or the need to increase effluent to preserve fish runs beyond the dams which is quite different than the natural fluctuation of a real lake which tends to be less than a foot.

Let the Cops do their jobs, if they don't go to whomever employs them. Here in Canada there is a country wide law, no wake can touch any shoreline. Simple. Some can't read or never took the National Safe Boat Test. Man, I didn't even know there was water let alone boats in Arizona. Gotta get out more.

Apparently there is even a place to ski - on snow ;) Never been there but Arizona must be awesome if they believe that they have more boats than places with lakes every couple miles or coastlines.

I've seen some videos on Lake Mead on a weekend, what the ??? It looks like the 401 HWY in Toronto. Sure doesn't look relaxing with 100 boats per square mile, or more.

I've never actually seen those boats per capita numbers. I'm in MN and I always say the everyone has a boat in their garage. It's funny...on the lake our vacation home is on, there is this dynamic of the legacy property owners against the new money property owners. The legacy owners complain about everything from the waverunners to the wake boats to the music of the new money property owners. Glad to see its not just our lake.

Stay off my lawn!
Now that there is funny...

the sidebars of impersonating officers, boats per catita and all are fun and all but to Mr Heads original question, no you are not however you also are most likely not affecting change and are just adding unpleasantness to your day on the water. Asshats will continue to be asshats.

unless it is involving your safety get good pics and or video, make sure to get clear shot of the reg numbers and stop by the airconditioned cop station, drop the memory card, and make some cop friends. Ask them to save the card and swap with them onyour next visit.

if it involes your immediate safety same advice but call 911 which i beleive requires a response
