I have in Costa Rica a Yamaha 25HP 2 stroke made in France in ?1990's. This motor was brought to Costa Rica from Italy. 25JEO is model name and 6N2 is model prefix. I read sticky about Yamaha OB Model codes pdf but cant' figure out the model year. I need to buy parts for the transmission, new water pump, and others. I was told that parts are not available in Costa Rica. I am currently in the USA and hope I can find a parts diagram, part numbers, and parts in the US. Any info appreciated.

Looks to be a 1998 model year motor.

More than likely it is the equivalent to one of several Yamaha USA models offered in that year. Does it use premix gasoline in lieu of oil injection? Is it electric start or manual start? Does it have two cylinders or three cylinders? Does it have a short shaft length or a long shaft length? Hard for us sitting behind a keyboard to know.

If premix, it might be similar to a 1998 C25MSHV.

If two cylinders it might be similar to a 1998 25MSHW.

If three cylinders it might be similar to a 1998 25MSHW3.

All of the various components, by part number, that are used in the models listed above (plus other 1998 models) are available for inspection by you in the Yamaha USA parts catalogs. Just find the parts catalog that most closed appears to be for your model.

Where in Costa Rica do you boat? I am partial to the Sierpe River and the Oso peninsula.

Thanks for the reply!
It is Autolube oil injected electric start. That's alI I know right now as I have seen it only once. A friend is sending more info.He had brought it to his mechanic in the town of Sierpe who says there was water in the trans case :(
Interesting that you mention Rio Sierpe since I am building a house overlooking the mouth of the Sierpe in Ojochal. I intend to use this motor on a 4meter inflatable to get me and my surfboard to the empty surf on Garza Island on the opposite side of the Rio Sierpe.

It is at the Yamaha/Suzuki dealer in Sierpe. I don't know the name but I am sure there is only 1. thanks to you for the info. I just received a photo of an italian registration document showing the motor as a 1994 25JEO-L. I assume the L is for Longshaft. A search for parts at USA parts suppliers web sites for this 1994 25 JEO model shows nothing. I assume this is because it was made in France and originally bought in Italy. How did you get possible similar model numbers? SInce water was found in the transmission case I need at least new seals for input and output shafts. Hopefully won't need new gears/pinions/bearings etc. A parts diagram would be great to have!
