'82 Grady White hydraulic steering assembly question. Below you'll see couple of pics. One is of the bolt assembly that attaches to the pilot arm. I wasn't the one who took it apart and don't know the correct re-assembly of the bolt, collar, spring, washer and nut to the pilot arm from the gimbal assembly. Can't find it in my repair manuals so maybe someone here can assist me.

I believe spring goes between steering arm and link rod so the ball end of the bolt fits into hole on link rod. If you Google a parts dwg of your set up I think you'll find the correct orientation. I'd post a link but it would be blocked as these sites sell parts too.

I did already try that and found no parts drawings that showed correct orientation. I also already tried the spring between the two and it just crushes down flat. Gonna keep trying though. Thanks

Mine is a 305 V8 and just don't see that it could be as pictured in my photo. That would put the pilot arm directly against the link. I kinda inclined to think the collar goes between the link and the pilot arm. That said I can't figure out where the spring would fit and what the function of it would be. How tight the nut would be torqued etc.

Will say manual 4 does not show the piece and spring, only a bolt and nut. I would post a pic but IE11 is not yet compatible with iboats yet.

You could toss the spring thing aside and use just a bolt and lock not and use a washer between steering arm and link. Don't make it tight

I just went out in the "freezing cold" and removed the bolt assy. Here's a pic, minus the spring, cause I dropped it in the grass and will have to look for it tomorrow. Pretty sure the collar goes between the link and pilot arm and the spring would go under the pilot arm followed by a washer, nut and cotter pin. Anyway I think I'll give it a try and put the motor back inside the boat.
