Thinking about buying. ID help?

Hi, I am thinking about buying this from a friend of my father. I has not been started in 10 years or so. He rebuilt the engine (Chevy 153) took it to the lake for a few hours and parked it. Can you help ID? On the side of the boat is says Invader. What other thoughts do you have about restoring an old boat like this? So far, the only rot I have found is in the rear under the battery. I found a photo of a '67 Glaston on the web. It looks like this boat. I did not find any Glaston markings.

Don;t pay much for it ... You can bet it's gunna be a full gut job on all the under deck structure .. A bunch of work but it can be done .. If you do restore it you have to recreate the band picture on splash day though ... Just for our enjoyment ..

I agree with Sphelps; It's not worth paying much for a boat in that condition. Not that it couldn't be restored, of course.

Thanks for the replies. He wants $500.00 for it. I'm still thinking about finding a good (better) hull to put the engine/outdrive into. So far I have looked at 3 others. 2 V hull and 1 tri. Yet to find anything that is in better shape here in the Texas panhandle. I have a few more to look at when it warms up again. It's just 25 degrees today. (I know, that's warm for some folks)

here is the thing , the engine is a great engine 120 hp if i recall, outdrive is pre alpha , i wouldn't bother putting it into a different boat unless for full restoration and matching parts type thing, the boat itself isn't bad but like everyone is saying , it might need floor stringers and a new transom, also whats the brown stuff around the outdrive?

Thanks Micky, The more I think about it, I'm not sure I want to replace all of the stringers, floor and transom. It has been covered for most of its life. But is has been exposed for the last several years. It feels OK when walking or pushing on the floor. I ordered a USB endoscope camera. I'm going to check it out thoroughly when it gets here. The brown is dirt in the oil where the power T/T is leaking.

It finally warmed up here some so I could inspect the boat. It has too much rot. There was a hole under where the battery goes. I put my hand in there. Pretty much no wood left. The stringers that support the engine are gone. Just hollow fiberglass shells full us dust. Kinda what I figured though after years of sitting outside uncovered. So I taking it back and looking at some others, Thanks to all that replied.

I personally would expand your search radius. I drove 600 miles to pick up my SeaRay back in '08 because it was $5k less than shopping locally. I also drove to Denver and back to pick up a cab and front clip for my '53 chev because I got a really good deal....
