For those who care...laid down the Durabak tonight, VERY simple to do! Just make sure you take the shine off of the glass/gel coat, clean it really well with Xylene, and make sure the area is WELLLL ventilated.

Here's pics of it 90% done. 2 coats of dark blue, 3 coats of light grey. This is a 19ft boat, and I used 1gal of blue, and 1gal of light grey.

The Streaks you see are just glares/reflections off of the console. The bottom is darker then it is in the pics...the flash just makes it look really white!

I will put the rub rail, gas tank, cleats, stern light, swivel chair base, ice chests and grab rails on tomorrow...then it will be 100%

I am 100% satisfied so far! We'll see how it holds up!

Shawn

I just hope it's not too dark - I'd hate to touch a dark surface after it's been out in the sun all day (carpet is one thing, but a rubberized coating!)

Keep-up the pics, and congrats on such a good looking project.

Looks great, is the surface rough on skin? Could a woman be comfortable moving around the cockpit or would brushing against the console for instance result in a painful scrap? Thanks!!

Took it on the lake this weekend. Lots of bad weather, so we had muddy feet w/granite pebbles in our shoes. Slid the ice chests around a lot, anchors, etc. Dont see a scratch in it AT all.

As for the roughness on skin: It isn't soft, but you can walk barefoot on it without a problem. If you do scrape really hard, it may hurt a little bit, but it wont draw blood or anything.

Very slip resistant though! I'm headed to the coast now...I'll post 100% complete pics of it when I get back, hopefully with a stringer of fish. We didn't fare too well at the lake...

Take care!
Shawn

Looks great Kelton!

You sprayed it, right?

I would've sprayed it, but I ran out of time and needed the boat for this weekend...

We caught a MESS of trout at the coast...pics later.

I also will post a 100% complete pic to show how it looks put together.

I slid anchors, ice chests, chains, etc. all across it this weekend, and it looks great!

Shawn

http://www.nonslipcoating.com

Email or call them, and they will send you samples of any color(s) you want.
The price varies by color. If you are interested in a dark blue, i have a whole gallon left over that I could sell you. I'm not sure if they will take it back or not, I haven't asked.

They will also go into detail about how to apply it to aluminum.

Shawn

Durabak, well I ordered over 2 weeks ago.

I never got any emails or phone calls. They took the money out of my bank account the day after I ordered.

I emailed three times over the course of a week.

I called twice, then finally got a real person who told me "yeah uhmmm we are running a little slow..." you should get your product in 5-7 days, it shipped today.

Thats over 2 weeks after taking my money,

this better be a good product, they have some real issues none the less

Shawn, KK - both you guys did a nice finish in your boats!!! We are going with white Durabak on the walkaround part and blue on the cabin tops. Will use rollers to apply.

JohnS1 - I emailed and quickly received the product samples. Durabak seems like really good stuff. 3-weeks seems slow...but let us know how it works for you.
