Well I still have not gotten any emails from them.<br /><br />I did get my gallon of Durabak on friday afternoon, it was delivered by a woman who lives about a mile down the road, she said FedEX left it on her porch.<br /><br />Talk about an all around hassel to get this product!!! <br /><br />I used the gallon of creme in the boat and I am very happy with the outcome, love the textured finish it left and i cant see how you will ever slip on the stuff.<br /><br />Heres a bad picture of the finished work, note that my boat is a work in progress! It will be finished Monday, gotta vanish all the oak parts and then rig the new 2004 Tohatsu 40 hp <br /><br />

SeanQ, thanks for the great tip/idea !!<br />It'll cover a multitude of sins on my project.<br /><br />This stuff looks like just the ticket for the Cobra project I'm currently werkin on. It's a bit too early for this stuff, but now, I have the source, and the figures stitched-into the "boat budget".<br />I'll probably go with the haze gray on the decks, as it will match the plastic decking (home depot decking material) I will be using on the bow and aft fishing decks. I won't need to coat those. But this stuff looks like it would be perfect EVERYWHERE else inside, even the bulkheads that used to be covered with purple monkey fur.<br />

Well I laid down the Durabak this weekend on the 19 lobster skiff. WOW...that stuff lives up to its name (Industrial). The stuff seems indestructable. I did have to call them back up to get an additional quart which is on its way for touch up ect..(they do sell small quantities aftreall). Now we will see how it holds up to lots of water lots of fish and fish parts and sand! So far I like what I see...also on Shawn and Keltons too. This is the test for me as I have a larger project boat in the pipeline waiting for some kind of non-skid.

Been over a month, and I've used the boat at least 8-10 times. <br /><br />I've got one tiny chip, about the size of a pencil eraser. I accidentally dropped the anchor on an angled piece of the floor,and it cut into it very slightly. Other then that, there is no damage anywhere, and it is holding up well!<br /><br />I did notice that the blue darkened quite a bit since I applied it. I guess it just cured more. It isn't quite as bright now.<br /><br />Just thought I'd post up!<br />I'll re-post in another month or two.<br /><br />Shawn

Shawn...glad to hear it darkens a bit my light grey is a bit light....A quart was about 42 bucks with shipping. Not cheap but a small price to pay for perfection....well see how it lasts<br />hermit

ShawnQ and KeltonKrew,<br /><br />I purchased a new Bayliner 175 this past Aug. I really like the boat; but, I don't like having carpet on a boat. From day one I've been thinking of how best to get rid of the carpet and have something more maintenance-free.<br /><br />I'm interested in Durabak'ing the cockpit floor and walls. Since the boat is new and I've been anal about keeping the boat covered and dry and ventilated, you think it would be okay to pull up the carpet, sand off the glue and apply Durabak on the floor surface? Do I have to concern myself with removing the floor and coating the edges?<br /><br />ShawnQ, for me anyway, your pictures did not show up... Hise,<br /><br />The pictures I posted were a few years ago and I have since deleted them from my host.<br /><br />One word of advice...if you are going to use Durabak, be SURE to use the UV resistant formula. If not, it will fade and the sun will eventually weaken it so much that a water hose will wash the color away (happened to me!).<br /><br />I didn't realize that there was a UV/Non-UV when I ordered it...and I got the Non-UV for the blue, and UV for the grey. I put blue on my front and rear deck, as well as the inside gunwales, and grey on the floor.<br /><br />The grey, which was UV, held up great...and still looks good. The Blue is almost all rinsed off. I need to scuff it back down and buy a gallon of the UV resistant blue and re-apply it.<br /><br />Overall though, I'm happy with the grey floor, which was UV (although I didn't know it). I wish I would've known that there were 2 types to begin with.<br /><br />take care,<br />SQ

hise,<br />noticed the thread jump back up....Duraback on my boat peeling up (one area only) after seeing a lot of standing puddling water (near skupper holes). I suppose I cant expect anything to last under those conditions really. Anyways on the new boat decided to go with "Interdeck" for the non skid. Duraback is very thick and the thought of roughing up that section to do a repair is not a good one (havnt done it yet-maybee next month).<br />TH

Shawn Q,<br />I also would like to see a couple of recent pics. Went to the site and it looks like a great product.<br /><br />I own a jeep that I have been looking to get it for. Just the inside back area. Carry stuff all the time and it wears on the carpet.<br /><br />Like to rip the back carpet out and use some of this stuff.

BigPoppa...it would be ideal for the inside 'bed' of a jeep. Just put it on really thick and you will have no trouble.<br /><br />Myoutboards,<br /> It is a little tough to get fish blood off of it without high pressure. If you take it to the car wash, it comes right off...but the standard water hose requires some scrubbing. It does tend to catch lint, sand, dirt, scales, shrimp skeletons, etc...but that's part of what you get if you want a 'non-slip' coating.<br /><br /><br />I will try to get some recent pics for you all today.<br /><br />Take care,<br />Shawn

I use a little powder laundry soap on a brush to clean my bluewater. I did the whole durabak thing about the same time as shawn and Kelton crew.<br />Just take a garden hose and it looks good as new after clean up. It only takes 10 minutes when I amdone fishing. <br />I also bought the non UV and it has faded in a couple of spots.
