1993 Cobalt 7.4 Mercruiser, cold starting won’t crank only clicking then finally crank after 5or 6 turns of the key. When engine hot cranks first time. Replaced starter seemed to correct after using boat 6 times now back to not only cold start delays same after warm up. Batteries checked out good. Any thoughts?

I would guess its probably the slave relay. You hear a slight click, not a louder one like coming from the starter, and no good. They go out every so often and don't cost that much. Its on top the motor and has 4 wires on it. Mercruiser part number 89-96054T

2 larger wires - Red/Purple and Yellow/Red
2 smaller wires - Black and Yellow/Red

Ayuh,..... Sounds like corroded wirin' ends in the start circuit,.....

Start at the battery terminals, 'n work yer way to the starter, both positive(+), 'n the grounds(-),....
'n don't just look at ;em,....
Take 'em apart, sand to shiny metal, 'n reinstall,....
