Website going dark

Is it just me or has the forum portion of the site been going dark or off line several times a day?

Over the last few days, I have been on and all of a sudden get the message:
[h=1]This page isn’t working[/h]
forums.iboats.com is currently unable to handle this request.

HTTP ERROR 503

I have no issues with any other sites during those blackouts.

I'd just like to know if it's just me.

Thanks.

Ok, thanks. I didn't see how it could just be me but, you never know.

Thanks again, I'm sure they'll get it tuned up.

I wish I could say it's you, LW. But George Washington set a good example for me to follow.

It's been terrible today.

Yup been getting a lot of 503 errors the last few days, it almost seems like we have these problems around Memorial day every year that I have been here, for some reason the week leading into and out of memorial day weekend can be very difficult.

It has come to the point where I have to copy many posts I write and go in back later to post. I'm tired of losing them.

One thing that is slowing things down is the forums are running under a secure certificate, which is not needed for a public forum, but the server processes the requests differently. I don't understand why companies think they need to run everything with a secure certificate all the time.

I'll leave it to the experts, which would not be me.

I'm sure they'll figure it out.

Yesterday was a blacky day, lots of HTTP ERROR 503 when hitting the text preview window. As the screen froze and didn't wanted to update the page, had to close it to open it again several times. At least written text was conveniently stored to be posted again..

I'm DONE.

I'll read but not post.

I'm tired of losing detailed instructions to a customer just to have have the website go bust and lose the effort.

I learned a long time ago, when typing out detailed messages on any forum system to do it in notepad first and then cut and paste into the post message box, I do this on newpaper opinion columns as well. It is just a smart thing to do, because websites are not as reliable as we would all hope they are.

Sometimes a person gets lucky and the last restore/discard cache save has most of it. Sometimes not.

Lots of fixes to the forums lately, which caused temporary issues while the developers worked on the code. Fixed e-mail notifications and most of the ModCP admin.
