Can someone tell me why I've spent 4 hours trying to get a waterpump to sit right, flush with he bottom part of the drive? This is my 2nd new water pump. I tried putting the top on and torquing it down until it was where it needed to be, but then it tweaked the drive shaft out of alignment. it's a 1971 cobalt boat. motor was stamped with a 68. I'm getting parts for an alpha one I think???? See pic, that's as far as it wants to go without major struggle. It came with a few different gaskets, there's still a gap with the thickest one.

You're using Alpha One parts, you should be using MC-1 parts. The pump impeller and housing are the same, but the bases are very different.... You'll also need to confirm whether you have a 'flush' hole or not....

You're a lifesaver. Its 97degrees outside today and now I can call it quits until I get the right pump. Thanks again
