So my boat is missing one jump seat that and the other one is kinda shot. Before I go and try building my own or perhaps buying them brand new anyone ever just simply put in 2 coolers in their place?

They don't have a backing obviously so the gas tank and battery area would be exposed though...just spit-balling here looking for ideas...

Would help if we knew what boat you’re working on. A pic or two wouldn’t hurt, either...

I dont have any clear pics of the back at the moment but its a 1986 stingray bowrider with a 120 mercruiser. I believe its a SVB 175 but im not 100% sure.

It looks almost identical to this....

And you want to put coolers on either side of the doghouse? Any ideas what you'd use to keep them from flying into the battery and gas tank area?

I once had seats that were hinged over a compartment ..... under one had storage and the other had small cooler..... very useful .....You could make up a platform covered compartment each side and do something similar.

Very interesting setup...any chance you have any pictures of it?

Good question...would have to get creative with that one. Would be nice to block them off completely to keep an excessive amount of water from getting into those areas.

Also, if the battery is not in an enclosed area, it has to be in a battery box (not a tray). I don't know if there are requirements for gas tanks. Just something else to consider...

The boat is an IO....so it should already have an internal vented gas tank and the battery should already be straped down in its tray.....those jump seats must of had a base that closed off the back area to sides of engine compartment..... mine did ? If not putting seats in.....will need something like vinyl covered plywood panels to clise off back opening into engine areas.

Good point knock on wood I shouldn't have to access either too often once this thing is running. Gotta figure out something with the old man he's the wood worker in this family.

I'd fabricate some jump seats to fit the areas. Not hard to do and with some foam and vinyl you could make it look close to factory with a minimum cash output and minimum labor.
