SS Prop Recomendation

Looking at a new 19' bowrider equipped with a 150 HP Mercury 4 stroke. The rig dry weight is about 2750. Std prop is a black max. Don't ever want to run an aluminum prop again. It's been a long time since I upgraded, so prop technology has escaped me.

99% usage is with 2 people, sometimes 4. Cruising only. Tubing and such are left to the kids these days. Looking for performance, i.e. speed and economy.

Since its a dealer installed option, a Merc prop would be preferred.

I'm not asking for a pitch recommendation, just which brand to buy. Vengeance, Laser II, Enertia are common products. Which version would meet my requirements...

1. How much is a stainless prop option through the dealer. Most dealers will try to charge full list on props.
2. What brand boat?
3. It may behoove you to buy the boat with an aluminum prop, run it, and see what performance you’re getting. That way you can base your decision on traits that you would like to improve on. If you’re looking for speed and efficiency, the Enertia is your best bet. One other thing to consider is that many boats are propped wrong by the dealer. And Enertia props are expensive. And without running the boat, you don’t have a baseline to establish what pitch may be best suited to you.

i know you may not like aluminum props, but they’re cheap, and they’re certainly able to function as a spare.

but if you’re going to make a leap of faith, go with the Enertia.

Yeah, you're right on all counts. I was just hoping to simplify the buying process and get a turn-key deal that needed no improvements. Of course, the deal would be contingent upon the motor hitting 5800 at WOT, or they would replace the prop.

It's a SeaRay, so I would hope they should know what prop to put on her.

Last year I bought a new Boston Whaler that came with a SS Vengeance prop standard, and it is the awesome optimum for the rig.

Its been a long while since ive posted in prop's, looking around I see not much has changed, Merc makes a great prop but I see there price is still out there. I can almost say with your boat and what your looking for A Solas Titan 4 blade will do everything you want and still have a few hundred in your pocket. Don't think along the lines of cheap there not, just a very good prop very good.

Prop tech has pretty much stalled at this point say 2008 for ss, think about it 10% slip ratio's just how are your going to improve that 0% lol nooooo... not until they change physics.

I understand the desire to have it dialed in from the start. I just don’t trust boat dealers or salesmen in general, and that’s who you’re dealing with.

Keep in mind the dealer won’t be inclined to do much swapping of $500-$700 props they don’t routinely stock.
