I have a Mercruiser 305MIE inboard, reverse (clockwise) rotation. I can’t get clear whether I need a reverse rotation (CW) distributor or a standard (CCW) rotation. Reverse rotation distributors are more expensive so that’s an added incentive to ask.
On various boating sites, I see statements like “all Chevy distributors turn clockwise”, but that clearly seems to be inaccurate as some Chevy small block marine distributors refer to standard rotation in their specs, and some to reverse rotation. And in any case, not all Chevy small block marine engines are standard rotation (mine is not).
So does my reverse rotation SBC engine require a reverse rotation distributor?
Thanks.
