My boat is in my 20' x 20' carport which is under my 9' high deck which has a roof 9' above it. So the carport is a dry sheltered area to work in on a concrete slab. Perfectly safe area for the boat.

The deck is timber strips with gaps between them.

The nearest beach to me is at least 45 minutes away. There is no source of sand nearer to us except garden suppliers.

But the sand that caused the problem came from our beach shack which is nearly 2 hours away.

My darling daughter, who until about 15 minutes ago was the apple of my eye, brought her beach towel back from the beach shack. There was no reason to bring it back. It lives at the beach shack. It is used only at the beach shack. We have plenty of towels here. None of them have any sand in them.

But having brought it back for no reason, she shook it out on the deck. In the only position out of the 8,000 or so square feet on our block that could cause a problem.

Some of the sand went through the gaps in the deck.

Directly above my outboard.

The cowl was off the outboard while I was doing a few things to it.

Fine sand is spread all over the motor. No doubt some went down the double carby throats, given the amount sitting on the perforated throat covers.

So, as bloody usual, my carefully arranged day off tomorrow won't be spent on the intended tasks of working on the boat dash but first on fixing up something that wouldn't need it if my bloody family didn't do things which just defy all possible logic and common sense that create endless and unnecessary work for me.

AAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!
