Pleasurecraft 5.7 won't idle

My friend has a 2006 Pleasureceraft 5.7 TBI that won't idle .So far he's replaced the cap and rotor, coil, idle air control solenoid and the low pressure fuel pump . In addition, he rebuilt the throttle body checked the plugs / wires and spark which all looks good and tested the throttle position sensor and coolant temp sensor which both test good.

As of right now, it starts and runs but when the throttle is closed as the idle comes down the engine stumbles and dies, but will start right back up. It seems like it will idle lower before dying when cold which sounds to me like it's getting too much fuel (or not enough air) but there's no adjustment since it's computer controlled.

Any ideas where else to look? Any idea how to check the timing and what it should be ?

Thanks

We haven't tested the fuel pressure because there's no port to attach a gauge but the appearance of the spray from the injectors looks to be what is expected.

Tbarcya, nobody was offended, iboats policy, as noted in the rules and guidelines found at the iboats forum help link in GAs and my signatures, requests that duplicate topics about the same subject arent started. Dont make it complicated, it isnt.

GA found and merged the 2 topics.

How about we let it go so I can get an answer to my questions rather than chatting about policy?

Clarifying or making you aware of rules is not being rude. Have you read the rules? It would be helpful because one of them says not to complain in the forum about Mods. We are easily offended and will give you a vacation.

This is the rule;

9. If you have questions, concerns, suggestions or complaints about the rules, moderation, or management of this site please contact a moderator via PM or iboats management for discussion. It is forbidden to debate these rules or their enforcement in the forum.

This has been reported to the Moderators, it has been looked at, and it has been determined there is nothing to see here other than an attempt to get a member to follow guidelines. Since these threads have been merged and it is in compliance with the policies of iboats, we can move along from policy to the reason for this thread, the answer to the OP's question, where to look for reasons that a 5.7 TBI won't idle. Any ideas, anyone?

When you say the sensors were tested, how was that done? Was the computer diagnositic software run on the engine, or was it done with a multimeter?

Has the computer diagnostics been connected to the engine and checked?

Both were tested with a multimeter as we do not have access to the computer to diagnose it. Unless it's a standard OBDC connector and talks OBDC but I haven't seen a connector that looks like it.

you need Rinda to communicate with marine motors

OBD is for cars

Research has revealed that there is an IAC reset / relearn procedure for automotive engines, is there something similar for marine? Could the new IAC possibly just be out of tune with the ECM?

Nope, they are 'plug and pray'....
