I just bought an old checkmate I tried to run some engine numbers not much coming up.it has a 350 chev in it.i don't belive its a marine engine but would like to find some more about it.back engine number is 3970010 front engine number starboard side v0020ajf?not sure if someone can help me with these or not?also another question oil pressure cold is 40 psi but with engine warm at idle is around 5 and at 2000 rpm is 30 and 35 at 2500 rpm is this normal.thanks for the help!

what oil are you running in the motor? should be 20W50

also when i'am at cruise 2500 rpm,the volts stay at a steady 14 volts is that too high?falls back to 12 and half at idle.thanks for the reply.

Ayuh,..... Welcome Aboard,...... The low oil pressure could be the gauge, cross check it with a mechanical gauge,......

The voltage should run 13.6 once the motor is rev'ed the 1st time after startin' it,.....
It'll be alittle higher, til the battery catches up,....
Again, it could be the gauge,.....

Btw,..... All boat motors were truck motors before they were installed in a boat,......

ya the gauges could be off a hair.and this engine is not stock. said it was rebuilt then a cam, vortec heads,intake,rocker arms,edelbrock marine carb,rods.owner never said what the engine came out of but I believe it is an older auto chevy.but my serial numbers are not crossing with anything.thanks for the responses.
