I know this enertia 19 is going to do well. Also know it will hit the limiter pretty easy if the tempest 19 does. Also know I’m going to then want a 20” enertia. And so it goes on...haha.
So...yet again. The enertia has completely blown me away with its ability. I should have learned by now really !
test conditions are not equal to the tempest plus 19 as I write this (on boat now), we have 3/4 of a tank of fuel and 2 onboard and it’s pretty choppy and raining. This means I am heavier and have the canopy hood up which acts like a parachute worth drag. Usually accounts for about 3/4 mph gps.
Despite this. I left the marina and Instantly the enertia is smoother at idle and going into gear with its lighter weight and X7 alloy. There is a go slow section from there. This allowed me to see that the smart craft showed 0.1 more miles per litre of fuel used at the same 1500 rpm. Big bonus.
I then opened her up. She accelerates about the same as far as I can tell, but cruising rpm has dropped by about 100 rpm at the same 22/23 mph as the tempest. Big bonus.
THe torque steer has reduced at this too. Excellent.
As for the top end. It’s not fair to judge at this point with the conditions and hood up but she got to 41.6 mph with rpm to play with. So with the hood off I’m pretty sure she will get to the 6000 and likely the limiter at 6150 and surely at least equal the 43 mph of the tempest.
Cant believe how good these enertia are. Really impressed by the smoother operation due to the far lighter weight.
I’ll report back later if I get the hood off today. Apparently to brighten up later but still choppy.
Ok. So results are in.
Still with more fuel and one more person on board from the test with the tempest....the enertia somehow managed 43.2 mph GPs and on the limiter. When the limiter hits, down to 42.3...then back to 43.2/3 mph consistently. What a propeller.
How it manages a less rpm cruise speed at a tiny bit more mph, I don’t know.
Never rule this prop out of any equation. What a thing. It costs a fair bit, bit worth every penny.
It’s never failed to astound me. Even mercury changed their suitability suggestions from original. They are finding it suits anything from a modest powered centre console, through heavy hulled big power to fast big v8 powered. It certainly works on my moderate powered heavy deep v with outboard and the fast chase v8.
I've only been in one boat wher it didn't do well. It was a Lund, about 20 ft. The boat was porpoising like a Wild Bull, fully trimmed in, and passengers in the bow, it wouldn't calm down. Replacing the prop with a atempest solved it
