Evinrude carb repair 15hp 1976

Got my carb kit in today and put everything together. Except these plugs. Replace or not to replace? If so how do you replace them? Thx

Let them be. If those are the plugs I think they are you would have to drill out the old ones and press in the new.

My thoughts exactly., I’ve rebuilt a few carbs before and have never replaced them. Just thought I’d double check

Take the big one.out on top of the carb. Under that is 3 small holes for the idle circuit those need to be cleaned.

Did you get a chance to see how it runs without tearing that far into the carb?

Yes it ran good, Had a little issue when I came out of WOT..

It only takes a couple of minutes to pry the old one out, clean the idle circuit and tap the new one into place. No reason to skip that step.

Yes, I always remove the large one and inspect/clean the idle circuit. It also gives you the chance to inspect the orifice where the slow speed needle seats.

Ok, I just took the old one out, of course it was clean. But better to be safe than sorry. And I got the new plug in too. Thx for keeping me on track.

I always seal mine up with clear fingernail polish ($1.00) over the crimped plug …..just to seal the perimeter
