Hello I am restoring an old boat with the period correct Mercury OB. I have the service manual for the outboard. I am needing part numbers for the correct ignition switch and choke button. The control box is white in color. The S.N. is 1543598. Also any help to where I can purchase the parts, I'm just trying to keep her original as it been in the family since new.

Hey kbh. I have a motor just like it and if I'm not mistaken the switches for the controls are in the back of the service manual, although I'm kinda like you and am not 100% positive of the exact part number I need. Everything on my switch works EXCEPT the Stop contact. I have to hit choke to kill my engine. I realize that was absolutely NO help as far as your question goes, but my reason for posting is I do have one piece of advice in case you aren't familiar with those controls. TAKE A LOT OF PICTURES AS YOU'RE TAKING IT APART! The manual is a little unclear about how to get all of the linkage in the single lever controls to mesh back together. AND don't force anything apart or together. It WILL just split apart when everything is lined up correctly and it WILL just go back together if everything is lined back up correctly.

Thanks MPrimeaux for the advice. As you can see, I'm more of a Chrysler OB fan. I do want to keep this original. The key switch is bad, I've tested the wires. The boat that you have in your pic is very similar to my boat! Mine is a Pacific Mariner.

Hello group, any ideas of where to find a new ignition switch for the old controls and a choke button?

It appears the Merc part number for the keyswitch is -54211T. That's all I could find without seeing the control box. (no guarrentee this is the right part number for your control box ;))..
