Hi all,
I'm finishing up a full restoration on my 96 bayliner and about to get the drive bolted up once I finish the engine alignment. I did an entire bellows job, shift cable, u joints, gimbal bearing, output shaft seal (the one behind the gimbal bearing)... I've also pressure tested the drive and it held up great.
My question is, after doing all this work, should I replace the shift shaft bushings and seals as a precaution, or is this something that does not typically need replacing? Is there a check to do on it to see if they are okay? I can't wiggle the shift shaft horizontally at all, but I'm more concerned about the seals leaking and getting water in my new u-joints...
Thoughts?
Thanks
