I just bought a 1994 Astro 20fsx with a 96 mercury 200 efi the boat has only been used 1 time in the last 3 yrs runs good on the hose a little rough idle so I filled the boat up with new fuel dropped the boat in the water the day I bought it threw the hammer down and it got up to 2000 rpm and not an inch more so I took it home changed the plugs and fuel filters still had a rough idle but sounds a little better went for a test drive threw the hammer down and got the same result except I couldn’t even get to 2000 rpm spoke to a mechanic he thanks it might be the trigger I bought the trigger today mechanic is suppose to come out tomorrow night figured I’d see if anyone else might have had this issues and what you fixed have been so I can test those as well really would like to get the boat running for the weekend

QUIT RUNNING IT!!!! You need to pull the VST and clean it first! The oil is injected into it and since it sat, it evaporated and left oil residue. This plugs up regulator and injector filters. You may now need a complete cleaning service even if its a electrical problem. Since its a 96 I would have injectors cleaned/balanced anyway....nothing in a can will clean em.

You send injectors to Brucato for cleaning/balancing and testing. If injectors' are not supplied correct fuel pressure or aerated fuel from fuel delivery restriction (VST) it will not surge and 35 PSI is borderline

listen ta Faz.. first thing is if ya gonna do this yourself get an OEM manual for it.. all your mechanic is doing is guessing.. you can invest a pile a cash in parts that way... its been "settin" with fuel in it which can and does cause a pile a fuel delivery parts ta screw up from fuel lines ta injectors with everything in-between.... jmo.

ya might consider a water pump kit also......

Ok I installed the new trigger and it didn’t change anything also installed a new battery (noticed it was 5 yrs old) also installed a new ignition switch. Now I get a solid beep and then two beeps a second after the initial beep.
