Scenario, it's a 2 stroke Suzuki long shaft DT 40 model. Powers a large tender to transport boaters from a marina to their respective watercrafts and vice verse. Never has been flushed with fresh water, runs at the lugging rpm side, current prop it's not adequate for such a large and heavy water transport and lately developing repetitive overheating issues. Pees like an old timer with severe prostrate issues...

A new impeller was installed, the motor was flushed for an hour through the lower leg´s water pipe with no avail, proper time to expose all the water paths and check what's going on inside the crankcase, pics speaks for themselves.

All internal water paths has been cleaned not to a spot on clean state, too much extensive hand work and time was bit short, anyway should run and cool much better than before...

Must say that the worse thing that can be done to any motor is to work with removed thermo, motor will run too cold, not burn well the fuel/oil mixture, spark plugs will be fouled faster when at displacement speed along collecting large quantities of carbon building up inside the crankcase as in pic 12. The motor will be water tested during the week end, hope everything will work out fine as expected...

Happy Boating

of course water through the indicator hose means very little

As long the water pump it's doing its homework right and all the internal water paths are immaculate clean all will be good to go, now pees like a teenager...LOL!!
