1981 mariner tilt and trim.

I have a 1981 mariner 40 hp outboard. I'm wanting to put a tilt and trim on it but not sure what part will actually fit on my motor? I have seen multiple used units on sale but not sure which one I need and if I need additional brackets? I have seen cmc or panther aftermarket parts but would prefer original equipment. Any help would be appreciated

Did the motor ever come with PTT? If so, you should be able to retrofit yours

Go on the crowleymarine web page and try to find a Merc 40ELPT and see if it had the 2 brackets, 4 hoses, 2 cylinders and PTT pump in the boat-style PTT unit.

I think you may be right. This year mariner seems extremely hard to find parts and that could be why
ariner 40hp might be a Yamaha product

Those models never had trim...look for a CMC trim
