GG9001C Lower unit compatability

I have a 56 Seaking OMC motor 5S12 Gale model number. My lower unit froze and busted and I am looking at getting a replacement. I have located a 1949 lower unit that looks the same but I am unaware of any internal differences the two may have. Can anyone answer this for me? Thanks in advance.

Im almost sure Johnson/ Evinrudes will work as well. Almost everything with these motors and Gale are the same.
