Just installing the engine I built over the winter. I've run out of adjustment trying to lower the front of the engine to get proper alignment. Local dealer says he's seen this before and had to shave down the stringers. This is a balance shaft 4.3 but I think it has rubber mounts. Shouldn't it have solid mounts? I'm lifting the engine and pulling the mounts out tomorrow to see if I can get more adjustment. It's pretty close now.

Ayuh,.... Was there a 4.3l motor in this boat before,..??

If so, I'd think you have other problems,.....
As BD said, are the rear mounts as they should be,..??

Yes, old engine was also 4.3 MPIO. I'm in the process of double checking the rear mounts now. Where can I find an exploded view of the rear mount assembly?

What year is your boat and/or engine/transom serial numbers?

Bear in mind that around 2003ish Merc came out with a different design rear motor mount change. The below links should be some helpful guides for you and/or search online Images "Mercruiser rear motor mount diagrams".

An consideration to bear in mind is possibly your rear mounts are worn out or the hardware is out of order.
