Hello all, Where is the part number location of the lower unit of a 1978 Johnson 140 HP outboard ?.

What is the reason for the question.------I think a lower unit from a 1978 is the same as one from a 1998 model V-4 90 & 115 HP for the crossflow models.

I have someone asking me for the part number that would be stamped on the casting.

The 6 digit casting # is usually found in a cavity near where the exhaust goes out.----------May have to do some cleaning to reveal it.
