Spark plugs are flat gap ones. They seem fine. How can I find out if they are bad?Seems to have back fire issues due to electrical components misbehaviours, how old are the spark plugs to start with ? go for a wot run and check if the motor revs good when at full throttle or misses.

No the spark plugs are flat gap, I just put in bran new ones tonight and it's still doing it, even when I rev it up a bit. I did a full carb clean as wellAre those spark plugs the ones without the metal bent portion as traditional ones ? if so, those spark plugs are intended to run constantly at 3/4 to full throttle, excellent for long cruising purposes. Have your tested the spark plugs whichever ones the factory recommended for said motor ? Impossible to tell if with current spark plug issues, installing new ones will surely tell...

Actually I think I figured it out,I just bought this motor recently and the idling was way out and to compensate the previous owner played with the fuel/air ratio and that was the result. Here is a link to the video of how it runs now.

Thanks for your help, it was nice that someone like you was replying back to me and actually trying to help me figure this out. I was getting pretty frustrated over the weekend and needed someone more experience to toss any suggestions at me. The problem might not be fully solved but I think Im on the right track.Congrats, runs much better than before, now ready for a wot run in open waters as if stealing the combo...
