hi guys just brought this boat. I broke the key in the switch and had it replaced started the boat again this time it wouldn’t turn off must not of wired correctly

them realised there was a light smoke coming out from the back of the outboard motor can anyone tell me what could of happened? And could I’ve done serious damage.

switch must have got damaged. that is the upper exhaust. that allows exhaust to escape without water pressure behind it at idle

Thanks buddy I thought I’d damaged the motor as for the switch it was a new one not 100% sure if it I wired it correctly.

You must use the correct switch and wire it up correctly.----Expensive damage will result if mistakes are made.----Part # of the factory switch that you installed ?-----Pictures of wires installed on each terminal.-----Colour of wires on the " M " terminals ??

These first 4 images are of the original switch the last image is off the new switch I brought B power, S start, I ignition, C choke what throws me off is the M and the AM?
