Ok, I don't get it. I recently took on a '89 OMC 2.3 with hardly any hours on it to either keep it, sell it, or restore it for my friend.
First off it did start, but had overheated by the time I would do a figure 8 away from dock. I installed a thermostat (there wasn't one), I drained and pulled exhaust manifold cause it seemed like blockage somewhere. I resurfaced and cleaned out the riser and manifold best I could. It did the trick.
Then rebuilt Rochester 2bl gvc or whatever it is. Changed plugs. R&r'd the Carter fuel pump. Replaced the coil and altinator with new factory one. Siphoned old fuel and put in fresh gas and water separator, new stern drive impeller kit...

She idled for ten minutes 3 days ago, but today while cranking with remote start switch, she will not turn over. So I looked down carb throte while pulling on linkage and nothing, no smell, no fuel in the bowl. So I took off fuel supply tube and could pull fuel from pump by sucking.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

Had her idling three days ago. Now cranks but wont fire? So I looked into carb b

Sounds like your fuel pump is not working.
I though so as well, but last night as I was pondering the meaning of life, it just came flooding in...I also change of my fuel supply line from tank to pump...but it I too large inner-diameter now that I think of it and is sucking air as my glass fuel filter will attest to as it only fills up about 1/3 of the way!
I change it out this morning and will confirm afternoon.....

There should be a check valve at the fuel line fitting on the tank. Basically a ball and a spring mechanism. I've found them stuck closed in older boats that have been sitting around for awhile.

Sorry for the delay...spent the last several weeks working the outdrive and shift mechanism. Finally got all of that together again.
So, here I am back where I left off...crank, no start issue...so back to the title question of ignition or fuel problem? So I'll check for spark again and look for presence of fuel in float bowl upon cranking.
I'll report back shortly...
