1988 skeeter sd 80

i am currently working on my first boat a 1988 skeeter sd 80 i am in the process of of pulling cap of to replace stringers and foam any ideas that might make things easier plus after i fix stringers and foam i want to glue the sub floor down to prevent screws from being drilled into my stringers should i use fiberglass and reason to do this or should i use sylicone please let me know if you can give me any pointers

You can glue it down with urethane based adhesive like Loctite PL. It's easy to work with and it holds good.

also i am planning on painting the cap i was thinking about using automotive paint is this a good idea?

No reason not to. The preparation is the most important part just as it is in painting cars. Plenty of info on the internet about using auto paint on fiberglass boats.

awesome I was just concerned i have never had a boat or wanted to work on one but now that i do i just want it to look as best as possible

Don't know how far along you are but I would add some more bracing to the hull before I started removing any structure from the boat. They can get a little floppy and would hate to see the cap not fit back on when the time comes. Take a look in the restoration forum here and see how others have done theirs. Keeping posting pictures as you go along. Also take a lot of measurements at various places along the hull and check them as you go along.
