Currently have a 21 foot open bow with a 5.8 fi Volvo penta sx. My kids do
A lot of wakeboarding and tubing. Wondering what size prop would be recommended? Was told to switch from a 3 blade to a 4 with 21 pitch. Is that correct?

I believe it’s a 14.5 19 3 blade. New to boating late last summer. Don’t remember rpm from last season and haven’t been out yet this year
I wouldnt buy a prop until you verify current wot rpm. Current number will inform your need fir pitch Assuming your current prop is in the recommended 4400-4800 rpm range at wot, then go with a 17 or 18” pitch 4 blade if you want more holeshot. Going down in pitch will give more power on acceleration and bring the rpms up, up in pitch will bring rpms down, rule of thumb is 400 rpm per 2” pitch change.
if you are new to boating i would recommend trying to find a local marina or prop shop who will let you try before you buy. If thats not convenient where you live try an aluminum prop (less $$) like a michigan vortex 4 blade until you get a feel for how prop swap affect performance.
