Hello, I just picked a used Minn Kota Riptide Powerdrive 12V 55 pound thrust to replace an old motorguide 46 because I don't like the cable foot steer.

It will being going on my g3 pro 175 and Minn Kota says I should use 4 gauge wire for the length so I bought 4 gauge marine wire.

Question: does anyone have any suggestions for reducing the wire from 8 gauge at the TM and plug to the 4 gauge supply? Doesn't seem to be any options and there doesn't appear to be any aftermarket plugs that accept 4 gauge. Can I just put lugs on the end and bolt together? What have you all done?

Thanks

BTW: 4 gauge is larger than 8 gauge wire ;)

Anderson connectors work great in these situations. They use "solder cup" contacts (pins) so there is no problem mismatching wire sizes. Just select a connector contacts that fits the larger wire of the two
